Miscarriage Clinic

Investigating and overcoming early pregnancy loss after natural conception or after fertility treatment.

At Bourn Hall, we know that every miscarriage or early pregnancy loss (EPL) matters and can be extremely upsetting, whether you conceived naturally or are accessing fertility treatment. You may not have had many chances at pregnancy, so it is paramount to minimise your chances of experiencing another miscarriage.

How our miscarriage clinic works

Bourn Hall Miscarriage Clinic

People seeking help via the NHS usually need to have had three recurring miscarriages to find out potentially if there is a reason for their loss and the waiting times to be admitted to the service are variable.

Our Miscarriage Clinic is available from Bourn Hall and open to anyone who has experienced one or more miscarriages or early pregnancy losses (EPL) after either natural conception or fertility treatment.

Our miscarriage clinic includes a Standard and Extended panel of investigations, with the option of more if required. Our panels are the most comprehensive in the sector and have been uniquely designed in accordance with UK, European and US scientific guidance.

While other clinics test only for certain causes, we work holistically, by checking the anatomy of your womb and ovaries, the health of the lining of your womb, your hormonal health, clotting issues, genetics, immunology and the contribution from the sperm (if there is a male partner).

Our service includes a comprehensive, one-hour consultation with our fertility nutritionist, who will suggest ways in which you can optimise your health and lifestyle to help minimise the chance of a further miscarriage.

If you get pregnant again (either naturally or after fertility treatment) we also offer you a free, additional early pregnancy scan to give you a little extra reassurance during the early weeks of pregnancy.

The Bourn Hall Standard miscarriage panel of investigations is suitable for you if you have experienced:

  • At least one early pregnancy loss (fewer than 12 weeks of pregnancy) naturally conceived or after fertility treatment

We strongly recommend the Extended panel if:

  • You have experienced three or more early pregnancy losses (fewer than 12 weeks of pregnancy) naturally conceived or after fertility treatment
  • You are under 35 years of age and have had two or more early pregnancy losses (fewer than 12 weeks of pregnancy) naturally conceived or after fertility treatment
  • You are considering IVF with embryo genetic testing (PGT-A).

We also offer a same-sex female couple panel and a single female panel – please contact us for more details.
