Starting your fertility journey

Understanding how likely it might be for you and your partner to conceive naturally is a great place to start. Fertility testing helps to pinpoint any fertility problems, will give you a broader understanding of your fertility potential and could mean that you are one step closer to becoming a parent.

Fertility testing options

Fertility testing not only gives you answers, it can also help reassure you, give you peace of mind and help you decide which partner might be best suited to complete a pregnancy. We have a number of tests available.

Female Same-Sex Couples

Fertility treatments

As a same-sex female couple, you will likely need a fertility treatment intervention to help you realise your dreams of having a baby. You will also need donor sperm for a number of fertility treatments. Sperm can be donated by a known or unknown donor so we will guide you through both options. If you prefer an unknown donor, we can help you find a suitable one through our highly regulated sperm bank or the network of high quality sperm banks with whom we collaborate.

Remember, we are here to help. We offer a number of fertility treatment options which could be suitable and we will be there to guide you throughout the entire process.

Fertility preservation options

Preserving your fertility gives you options. If you may want a child in the future but need to undergo a treatment that could make this difficult, fertility preservation could be for you.

Shared Motherhood

Bourn Hall are pleased to offer the opportunity of shared motherhood, which is a wonderful way for you to share the experience of pregnancy as a couple, as well as helping others create their very own family too.

This process would involve both partners undergoing scans, appointments and a stimulation process, with one partner going through the IVF process to produce eggs. These are then fertilised with your donor’s sperm in the embryology laboratory, before the embryo is transferred into the womb of the other (female) partner to carry the pregnancy.

315-2

Our shared motherhood options:

Shared motherhood: one partner provides the eggs and the other carries the pregnancy.

Shared motherhood and egg-sharing: one partner provides half their eggs to the other and shares the remainder with others wanting to start a family.

Shared motherhood with both partners egg-sharing: both partners share and both have the opportunity to carry the pregnancy.

Dual donation: one partner provides the eggs to the other. She, then, donates her eggs to others wanting to start a family.

If you’re unsure about who will provide eggs and who will carry the pregnancy, we would advise both of you to have the following tests:

– Blood test to measure your ovarian reserve

– Blood tests to determine your thyroid levels

– Internal scan to check your uterus and ovaries.

Once you’ve both had positive results from these tests, you will have an extended consultation to discuss and plan your treatment.

Typically, treatment costs from £13,500, including donor sperm costs. We will provide you with a more detailed quote following your consultation.

Flexible Pricing Options

To help make your treatment affordable and achievable, we offer fixed price treatment package options and a variety of finance solutions for patients looking to spread all or part of the cost of their treatment.
