NHS fertility testing

If you qualify for NHS-funded fertility treatment under the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board, our fertility diagnostic pathway is the same as the services offered by your local NHS hospital but with much shorter waiting times and in an environment dedicated to fertility services.

To access this free service, please visit your GP to ask for a referral to one of our clinics through the NHS e-referral system (standard NHS eligibility criteria will apply).

We understand that fertility treatment can be a complex and emotional journey. Our team is dedicated to providing you with all the information and support you need throughout the process.

Bourn Hall Wickford-76

Our service

We include semen analysis, hormone and ovarian reserve assessments, an ultrasound scan, tubal patency assessment and, if appropriate, ovulation induction treatment. We also offer personalised consultations with our specialists free of charge to patients who qualify for NHS-funded fertility treatment.

We have no waiting lists and aim to get your results back within three weeks of your first appointment. Our flexible consultations mean that, once referred, we can help you to understand your current fertility health and set you on your journey to having a family of your own. We want to help you get pregnant as quickly as possible and help you find the right treatment plan.

With our help, we hope you will achieve a pregnancy naturally (for example, using ovulation induction treatment).

If you do need assisted conception treatment and you’re eligible for NHS funded IVF you can have your NHS funded fertility treatment with us. Bourn Hall is the perfect place to get specialist expert advice with proven pregnancy success rates.

Accessing NHS fertility testing

This service is only available if you qualify under the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board – it is your local Integrated Care Board (ICB) that sets the eligibility criteria. If you would like to access this free service, please visit your GP to ask for a referral to one of our clinics through the NHS e-referral system (standard NHS eligibility criteria will apply).

To find out more, get in touch via our contact form or speak to your GP.

As an NHS Qualified Provider we are pleased to be offering level 2 fertility testing for patients under the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board at our Bourn Hall clinics in King’s Lynn and Norwich, or at Cambridge, Colchester or Wickford, if closer to the patient being referred.

Using the same criteria for referral that you would for your local hospital, you can find us on the e-referral system. The pathway is the same as the NHS level 2 pathway, including ovulation induction treatment (if applicable).

The benefits of our service include:

  • Rapid access to specialised diagnostic tests
  • Treatment in dedicated facilities
  • A personalised service
  • Results within three weeks
  • No waiting lists

Tests include: semen analysis; blood tests for ovarian reserve; a scan; a tubal patency assessment; and an in-depth consultation with a Bourn Hall fertility specialist consultant. The following flow charts detail the referral, diagnostic and treatment pathways:

You can refer patients to us on e-referral (look for Bourn Hall at Norwich), and we will allocate your patient an initial appointment at the clinic closest to their home. You will need to complete and submit the appropriate NHS proforma for us to accept your referral.
